The two oldest munchkins have their first gymnastics Olympic Games. They are pretty excited that they get to perform their routines in front of their Papa. Plus they get their first official sports photos. Our kids are in a lot of sports activities this summer and even though it gets a little tiring dragging everyone in and out of the car - I'm happy for it. It gets us out of the apartment and burns their energy so they're less likely to cause mischief at home.
Tomorrow I'm dragging the clan to the World's Largest Garage Sale! I think that that claim is in dispute with Tennessee but who cares. I'm hoping to grab some things for our prayer corner that I will one day have in our future house. Back in Portland I was pretty lucky at grabbing religious items from thrift stores. So here's to hoping.
I sewed this top yesterday and briefly wrote about my experience. It felt good to sew something to completion and be able to put it on in the same day. I only had to rip out a few seams to adjust the straps but other than that it was a straight forward project.
I have been coveting this top from Anthropologie but I refuse to pay such high prices for a shirt that will get boogers, spit up, and probably poo on it somewhere. It looks like I might be able to duplicate it so I am going to give it a go. I already bought my fabric and have it washed and prepped.
I have done some research and I can't seem to find a pattern that matches this one well enough so I think I might combine some free tutorials and see what I get. It takes me awhile to throw together a tutorial so you might not see this project done for a month or so.
The moon must be full or something is in the air because I have been reading a lot - A LOT - about little ones behaving badly. This past week was a hard one for me. The munchkins were pushing every button and twisting every knob of irritation. Ambrose turned into a werewolf and devoured my sanity bright and early Monday and it hasn't really stopped since. My dearest Ryan came home early Wednesday and sent me off all by myself to watch a movie. I usually don't go or do anything once my man comes home but I really needed to take a break and so off I went to watch The Wolverine in 3D.
I didn't think I was going to enjoy the film as much as I did. It satisfied my inner 14 year old who still loves the X-Men comics.
I whipped up these masks for the kids this week. It was a bit rainy outside and they have been making paper masks that kept breaking apart so I went through my felt stash and made two kitty cat masks and one Batman mask. Ambrose, being his uncooperative self this week, wouldn't take a picture so you get him in the background.
It was a pretty straight forward drawing of a cat face. Then I just used my sewing machine to add some whiskers. Pretty easy. If anyone would like a template just comment below and I will make out a template for you to download with some instructions on how to put it together.
