Five Favorites (2nd Edition)

Linking up with Camp Patton, one of my favorite blogs, who is hosting the Five Favorites for this week. Grace, from the Camp, is Hilarious with a capital H. Be sure to check her out!

1.

One of my favorite magazines that has almost everything in one area. This magazine is about gardening, guns, and almost always food. My three favorite things! G&G are getting ready to have their annual shooting fundraiser - a fun filled evening with field day activities, a shooting tournament and then a celebratory dinner. It sounds like  just the ticket for me and something I want to try to copy for my 10 year anniversary. Shooting, good food, and friends - what more could you want to celebrate 10 years of marriage?

2.

The Survival Mom has a great list to start your 72 hour car survival kit. I'm in the process of putting one together for my little mini-mom-mobile. I just have to find the right container or pack to put it all in and I think I like the idea of putting it all in a pack or two just incase you have to leave your car. We can attach them to the stroller or easily place them on our backs. Remember most of the items are probably in your house so putting them together will be a lot easier than you think.

Go ahead and laugh you skinnies. This chick and her family are going to make it. Oh you wiped your bum with a leaf and didn't know that it was poison oak? Sorry for your luck sucka. Some of my TP will cost you one million dollars Bwahahahahahahahahahaha...or more realistically vodka or cigarettes....which you probably won't have.

3.

Walking Dead Season 4 Trailer. For those of you who have a sensitive disposition I suggest you not watch.

Yeehaw!

I dream of making my family a ton of quilts. There is something about the  texture and weight of a quilt that makes me feel happy - images of being snuggled up under a quilt with a mug of tea and my loves...ahhh Love! I want to be able to give each of my children a quilt when they leave the house so I better get on it because it takes me foreeeeeeever to finish a sewing project - just ask my older sister who is still waiting for her baby blanket that is half finished and in a storage box somewhere. This book is filled with easy instructions and glorious quilts. Let the quilt making commence!

Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons really works! My oldest is really taking off with the lessons and just read a book cover to cover by herself for the very first time. She is almost 6 so I guess she should be close to really reading books by herself but I don't care. I'm a super proud mama and I love that the love of reading is really taking hold. When the other kids hear me praise Aletheia for reading they then promptly grab a book and "read" so they can get some loving too.

Be sure to check out Camp Patton and her wonderful blog full of shenanigans and laughter

I've been inspired by the lovely Grace at Camp Patton to paint my nails more often and my color of choice is Bahama Mama. Its a nice warm plum hue that goes well with my olive skin and I just slap some on while I am watching a show after the kids have gone to bed.  Grace paints her nails once a week! I don't think I'll do it that often but I'm going to try to do it more frequently than I have.

2.

Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Lip Cream - This stuff is the greatest cure all. Best for chapped lips, hands, cuticles, the sore spot under your nose when you have a cold and are blowing your nose too much, dry toe cuticles...is it me or does anyone else get super dry toe cuticles??  You can snag some at TJ Maxx if you're lucky enough to find it!

My Stork Sak diaper bag was a present from my pops for Christmas! I love that it has a ton of pockets and straps and can fit enough diapers and crap for 4 kids that constantly need something. I carry a small case of wipes, mini Lysol, Clorox wipes, toilet seat covers, diapers for 2 babies, a burp cloth, cell phone, wallet, pacifiers, crayons and paper, my Elizabeth Arden lip stuff, sunglasses, gum, extra blush (cause you never know when you need a facelift), my camera (Canon Powershot), Tylenol, and mini deodorant (my BO gets out of control in this heat - can't smell like Chinese Five Spice all the time. I don't know what it is about my biological make-up but it's super embarrassing).

Paper plates yo! Ryan has been working late nights these last couple of weeks and well I've been serving dinner on paper plates- he's not home so there's no reason to get fancy. It helps with the clean up time at night so I can plop my tired old bottom on the couch after a long day of chasing the littles. I do feel wasteful and I wish that we already found a house so I can start composting again. All that paper should go straight to the compost bin because the worms love it and it helps balance out their diet. If you don't have a compost bin you can tear them up in little pieces and throw them in your garden. Oh and make sure its paper - worms no like plastic.

So this kinda goes against my policy of eating super over processed foods with a ton of junk in it but I can't help it. They are tasty in a cardboard kinda way and I have yet to make my own. The recipe seems pretty straightforward and easy. I just need to do it and stop being lazy about it but until then - I will eat these.

That's all folks. Hit up the Moxie Wife to find more fav's.
